A PIECE OF A BIGGER PUZZLE

At Fischer Blinds, part of Fischer Group, we are a small piece in the enormous green puzzle. Fortunately, with many years of experience, we have laid several important pieces towards lower climate impact and greater environmental consideration.

We know that as a production company, it is not enough to focus solely on materials, packaging, or transport. Therefore, we are on a journey to increase our knowledge of how we can improve our efforts in both social, environmental, and economic areas.

As a manufacturing and consulting company, we have a great responsibility. This applies to our own value chain as well as our private and professional customers’ choice of curtains and solar shading products.

Our industry has an impact on our climate that we take seriously. There are two sides to this issue. The impact of our products on the indoor climate and energy consumption in buildings, and the environmental impact of our products during the production, use, and disposal phases.

SOLAR SHADING REDUCES ENERGY CONSUMPTION
Installing of solar shading, especially external solar shading, has a proven positive effect on energy consumption in buildings. External solar shading can effectively regulate the amount of sunlight and heat that enters through windows, thereby reducing the need for energy-intensive cooling systems such as air conditioning. This can lower the building's greenhouse gas emissions.

It is becoming increasingly relevant, as many modern buildings are constructed with large glass facades, which are known to stimulate the greenhouse effect inside the buildings and increase the need for cooling. That is why Fischer is working hard to ensure that more contractors and architects incorporate solar shading early on in their construction projects to ensure the best solution from the start.

MEMBER OF ES-SO
As the only company in Denmark, and because we are market leaders, Fischer Group is a member of ES-SO, the European umbrella organisation for the solar shading industry. We support the non-profit organisation's mission to get solar shading recognised as a sustainable and energy-efficient way to minimise the risk of buildings overheating due to climate change.

We keep an eye on new technologies, standards, and collaboration opportunities. This makes us able to add more important pieces on our path towards a more responsible industry.

OUR PIECES TO THE PUZZLE

We recognise our responsibility as a manufacturing company, and we have always focused on delivering long-lasting solutions that improve our customers' indoor climate, well-being, and surroundings. Below, we have listed some of the initiatives and principles helping us pave the way towards running a greener business.

  • We have EPDs (environmental product declarations) on a wide range of our products, including screens, roller blinds, blackout systems, drop arm awnings, and markisolettes.

  • In 1997, we united all our productions at our own factory in Lithuania. This has given us better control over a significant part of our supply chain. Also, we estimate that it has reduced climate emissions from transport thanks to optimised logistics and a strategic position in relation to our companies throughout the Nordic region.

  • We produce according to the made-to-order principle, which means we make products exclusively based on customer orders. This limits our resource consumption and minimises our need for storage capacity to only raw materials.

  • Our products are designed to be disassembled into all their primary components, making it possible to repair and replace defective parts, thereby significantly extending product life. It also allows the various primary material fractions to be dismantled, sorted, and sent to recycling if the product is disposed of.
  • We have a broad focus on materials. The most important thing for us is ensuring our products are durable and meet high quality standards, designed to withstand years of exposure to wind and weather. We therefore have both PVC-containing and PVC-free fabrics for screens and awnings, and we offer hardware in both virgin and recycled aluminium. As for our curtains, we have a selection of recycled fabrics in wool, polyester, and cotton.

  • Fischer Group is transitioning to electric company cars. Each time a leasing agreement expires, the car must be replaced with an electric car. As of 1 September 2025, 25 out of our 35 company cars are electric.
